Critical Incident ManagementCIM OverviewContact Training Systems Ltd has been providing enforcement training under the collective title of Critical Incident Management, nationally and internationally since 1997. The critical incident management (CIM) programme was developed by Contacts' senior trainers' in response to a very real demand for a professionally instructed, safe-operator orientated, and court-defensible system of personal protection and reasonable force application. Critical incident management concepts and techniques maintain these three capabilities as foundation and safely covers the scope from reasonable force applied in self defence to effect an escape from harm to reasonable and proportionate force applied to effect an arrest or to negate a clear and present threat. Contact Training Systems Ltd took up the challenge of providing this in a package that is not only effective but takes into account the totality of a situation and the external influences on any operator. Effective simplicity and specific goals is the key to insure that actions are readily recallable under conflict stress. Critical Incident Management AppliedSince its inception, Contact has become the leading external provider of incident management training for the NZ Customs Service, the Royal New Zealand Navy, the Royal New Zealand Air Force Expeditionary Support Squadron, NZDF Pre-deployment training and the Department of Corrections Community Probation and Psychological Services.Training has been provided internationally for agencies as geographically diverse as the Hong Kong Police, South African police in Pretoria, Singaporean security services and military and the Australian Customs Response group.
